200th post: my favorite baking things

Can you guys believe it?! 4 days to Christmas and I'm officially on my 200th blog post. TWO HUNDRED. THIS IS CRAZY. I will say the same thing I said when I hit 100 posts... I am so grateful for each and every single one of you amazing followers who come to comment and share and pin my little creations. To celebrate, I thought I would do something a little different... rather than post more food, I'll share all my little favorite baking and bloggie things!

Of course, my number one favorite item is my beautiful KitchenAid Artisan Mixer! I'm completely in love with it, and it has been the best gift I have ever received. Since it was a surprise, I didn't get to choose the color... and if you know me, you know I am a total girly girl! So to make this blue beauty more feminine, I bought the swirly silver decal. I adore it! It adds a little something extra while still being subtle and totally classy. My other mixer "extra" is the rubber-lined paddle... it scrapes the bowl as it goes, and it's amazing for when you're making cookies or other butter-based things that love to stick to the sides. It makes my job so much easier! You can purchase the decal HERE and the paddle HERE.

My second absolute kitchen necessity is good baking sheets and good liners. My favorite baking sheets are NordicWare Half-Sheet baking pans. They are sturdy and heavy, bake my goodies up perfectly, and well... I use them for everything! From pizza to jelly-rolls to fries, if it goes in the oven, it goes on these pans. The silicone liners I have are just ones I found at HomeGoods, and even if they're not original Sil-Pats, they work perfectly! Not to mention I saved at least $10 😉 If you bake as much as I do, these liners are total lifesavers! If I didn't have them, I'd go through an awful lot of parchment paper. They're a bit of an investment, but you can use these for YEARS and they are so worth it! You can buy the baking sheets HERE, and here are liners similar to mine.

Next up, cookie scoops. Oh, how I love thee! These make cookie making so fast, and your cookies come out perfectly shaped and even-sized. The smallest size is great for little cookies and to fill mini cupcake pans, the mid-sized is perfect for normal cookies, and the large sized is for giant cookies, though I use it most often to fill regular-sized cupcake pans. If you don't have any yet, I recommend buying the mid-sized one first, and the large one second. Being able to fill your cupcake batter perfectly evenly sounds silly, until you have to frost them... and some are big and some are small and they look crazy. I bought all of these at different stores {and of course I don't remember where}, but you can buy some cookie scoops HERE! Also, if you have a choice between metal and plastic, please choose metal! I had plastic ones before and... they all broke. Metal ones are just better, okay? 🙂

Okay, let's talk spatulas. I have tried what seems like a million and one spatulas, and I can honestly say that expensive does not mean better! My absolute favorite spatulas are these red Betty Crocker ones, which I buy... at the Dollar Tree. I'm serious! I've bought more expensive ones, and they just never work the way I want them to. They're always too hard or not flexible enough and most of the batter stays on the side of the bowl anyway, so what's the point? HERE is a link if you don't have a Dollar Tree locally, but I recommend just going in person to buy them!

Something I love strictly for blog purposes are cutting boards! I don't use them for baking, obviously, but they make photos so much prettier and more interesting. And they allow me to take pictures wherever I want. 🙂 Both of these were HomeGoods finds, but here are some of my favorites on Amazon...

My other favorite things to buy at HomeGoods and other clearance stores are cupcake wrappers and pretty sprinkles. These simple little things make your cupcakes and treats so much cuter with virtually no effort! Most cupcake liner packs I find are just $1.99, and they are a million times cuter than anything you could find at the regular grocery store.

Okay, a little story about this cake stand... it's like my most prized possession. My sorority Big sister decided to just make it and surprise me with it, for absolutely no reason. I love it so much! It's turquoise with cream and grey chevron, and of course it says The Baking Fairy! If you have a special blogger someone in your life and you don't know what to gift them, make them a personalized cake stand {or whatever else food related you wish}. They will love it {and you} forever! The plain wooden cake stand was purchased at Hobby Lobby, link HERE.

Finally, if you still don't know what to get that food-lover on your list for Christmas... get them foodie ornaments! I LOVE them and I think they are so much fun! The center cupcake is from Walgreens {I know, right?!} and all others are from Cracker Barrel.

Well, that's it! 🙂 I hope you enjoyed me sharing my favorite kitchen things, and I hope you have some gift inspiration for the foodie on your Christmas list. Happy shopping and happy holidays! 🙂
