Hello friends! So I know this may seem a bit premature... Christmas presents in October?! But hear me out. It's never too early to start planning! 😉 I am participating in a 12 Days of Handmade Christmas series, and this Caramel Pecan Brownie Mix in a Jar is my contribution! This is surprisingly easy to whip up and I think it turns out so pretty. Did I mention these are also crazy delicious?! Oh, yeah. Let me show you how it's done!

So think of these really as homemade box mix brownies. They're super fudgy and rich, and packed with caramel chips, chocolate chips, and pecans! While I am promoting this as a Christmas gift, I'm sure any baker in your life would love this for any occasion. It takes you just a few minutes to make this, and all you need is a big mason jar and some baking basics. I'm also including a printable for the tag so you don't even have to type them up yourself!

I found these super fun salted caramel chips at the grocery store and I couldn't resist adding them to my brownies, but if you can't find them, I'm sure butterscotch chips would work almost exactly the same! Or if your recipient doesn't like caramel and pecans, you are totally free to let your creativity run wild. Add dark, semisweet, and milk chocolate chips for triple chocolate brownies! If you want to be really festive, you could even add crushed candy cane pieces or the Christmas red and green chips for a super fun look. The sky is the limit! I hope you and your loved ones enjoy this super simple caramel pecan brownie mix this season!

    Ingredients

    • Dry mix:
    • 1 cup white sugar
    • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • ½ cup all-purpose flour
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
    • ½ cup dark chocolate chips
    • ½ cup salted caramel or butterscotch chips
    • ½ cup pecan pieces
    • Wet ingredients:
    • ½ cup melted butter
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla

    Instructions

    • In a large jar (I find quart-size mason jars work well), pour in the sugar, followed by the cocoa, the flour, the salt and baking powder, and finally the chips and pecans.
    • Seal jar tightly, decorate as desired, and attach a label.
    • For the label, write the wet ingredients needed and directions: "1. In a medium bowl, dump contents of the jar and mix well. 2. Stir in the eggs and vanilla, followed by the melted butter. 3. Spray an 8x8 baking pan with nonstick spray, and pour in the brownie batter. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350F"
