    sugar body scrubs | The Baking Fairy

    I don't know about y'all, but I always have a hard time finding presents for people! One of my favorite things to do, however, is make presents myself, and these sugar body scrubs are not only easy-peasy, but they're also super cute and customizable! Today, I'm sharing three different kinds: Snickerdoodle, Sugar Cookie, and Candy Cane, but seriously, the sky's the limit! I got to make some fun sugar scrubs at the BlogElevated conference earlier this year, and some fun "flavors" we got to create included Dreamsicle {orange and vanilla} and Brownie Batter {cocoa powder and vanilla}. Now, these are definitely not edible, but they sure smell good enough to eat. The scrubs I am showing you today are made with simple household ingredients that most people have in their homes, but if you want to make some really fancy ones, I recommend buying some essential oils. There are so many possibilities and combinations for these scrubs! So, what are we waiting for? Here's how you make these adorable homemade gifts...

    Any sugar scrub you make will start with two basics: granulated sugar, and oil. I prefer vegetable oil because it's basically clear in color and mostly odorless, but you could go the gourmet route and use some olive oil if you wish! Besides that, you can add whatever you want to these body scrubs. For my Snickerdoodle variety, I added in vanilla extract and cinnamon, the Sugar Cookie flavor has vanilla extract, almond extract, and rainbow sprinkles {because I really couldn't control myself and I just love sprinkles}, and the Candy Cane kind has peppermint extract and finely crushed candy cane added in! One tip I have is I would recommend using "imitation" extracts rather than pure extracts, because you aren't eating these, and you really just want the smell. Imitation vanilla is $0.99 versus $8 for the real thing... save your money and keep the real stuff for when you're making food 😉 Also, for the sprinkles and the candy cane pieces... don't go overboard! There are small amounts of food coloring in these, which means technically they can stain skin. Nobody wants to come out of the shower looking like Rainbow-Brite, so use just enough to where it's cute and noticeable, but not too much! And... well, that's really it! This little 2-ingredient recipe is so much fun, and you friends will love their homemade, spa-inspired presents this Christmas! Happy holidays and happy making!

    Ingredients
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • ⅓ cup vegetable oil {more or less as needed}

      I’m excited to try! I don’t have a mason jar so I’m going to use an air tight container! Hopefully it works! If it does, I’m making my best friend one for their birthday!

        Hi! Thank you for your comment. I think an airtight container will work great!
