    the easiest chai tea latte

    Jan 8, 2016 · 6 Comments

This really is THE Easiest Chai Latte recipe ever! You'll be rewarded with a rich, creamy, warmly spiced drink in no time thanks to my secret trick - steeping the tea directly in milk!

There's nothing quite like finally crossing something off your to-do list, right? Especially if it's been on said list for ages. I've been meaning to photograph and post this ridiculously easy "formula" for chai tea latte {because it's honestly too simple to be called a recipe} for probably like... 2 years. 2 YEARS! What have I been doing with myself?! Seriously. But I digress. The time has finally come, and I can finally share this fabulous, embarrassingly easy chai tea latte with you!

Just like when you want richer mashed potatoes you boil the potatoes in milk, and when you want creamier mac & cheese you cook the pasta in milk {or so Pinterest says... I haven't gotten around to personally trying that out yet}, the secret for the best, creamiest chai tea latte is to steep the tea right in the milk. No need for water around here! My infamous vegan best friend introduced me to this life-changingly simple tip a couple years ago, and I haven't looked back since. It goes without saying that this works for any kind of tea, not just chai!

Okay, so something completely random has been bothering me for the past couple of days and I just need to talk about it. As I was perusing Facebook, I read a post from one of my favorite bloggers sharing one of her recipes. It's a good recipe, one I've personally made more than once, but that wasn't the issue. I honestly wish that the comment option didn't exist sometimes because people seem to think that it means they can say whatever they want, no matter how rude or inconsiderate. One lady commented something along the lines of, "Why don't food sites just post recipes with one picture and then the recipe? I hate having to scroll through a ton of pictures and the whole backstory. Most of the content is just key words to get picked up from search engines anyway."

OKAY, LADY. You sound like the kind of person who buys cookbooks without pictures in them. Food bloggers are just that, bloggers. We do this because we love it, we love making food and sharing it, we love telling people the stories behind our food, and sometimes we just love to show off our photography skills. So, from me and every other food blogger out there, I'd like to apologize for being too wordy, too enthusiastic about our food, sorry for talking too much, sorry for wanting to show off our hours of work with props and pretty food styling and expensive camera lenses. Sorry we just love food so much we can't shut up about it. Just kidding. Not sorry.

If you're looking for the kind of site that just gives you a recipe and then shuts up, this is obviously not the right place. 😉 But for those of y'all who like reading about my everyday life, who enjoy getting glimpses into the funny moments, who love to learn about the family traditions behind certain foods... I love y'all. And you are the reason I do this. And y'all are always welcome on my site!

    Course: Drinks
    Servings: 1
Author: Valentina | The Baking Fairy

    Ingredients

    • 1 bag chai tea
    • 1 cup milk {dairy or non-dairy is fine}
    • 1 tablespoon sugar honey, Stevia, or other sweetener of choice
    • cinnamon for topping

    Instructions

    • Pour the milk into a microwave-safe mug, and heat for 2-3 minutes, until very hot.
    • Add in the sweetener, and using a milk frother, if you have one, froth the milk until a fluffy layer of foam forms on top. If you don't have a frother, just stirring it in works fine 🙂
    • Add in the bag of chai tea, and steep for 5-6 minutes, until it reaches desired strength.
    • Sprinkle cinnamon on top, and enjoy!
