    the highlights of 2014

    Dec 31, 2014 · Leave a Comment

It's once again the time of year to look back and see all that has happened in the past 12 months! Thank you so, SO much for sticking around my little blog and seeing my recipes and reading my utterly ridiculous, unnecessary commentaries. My readers are the most fabulous readers of all, and I wouldn't trade y'all for the world! I know you guys are here for food, so let's start off with the most popular recipes and posts of the year!

the highlights of 2014 | The Baking Fairy

Queen Elsa Frozen cake | The Baking Fairy

    1. Elsa Barbie Cake: Frozen fever is still going STRONG, even a year after the movie's release, and this lovely cake was the #1 viewed recipe of 2014!

    juicecleanse2
    2. 3-Day Juice Cleanse: this has blown up ALL over Pinterest, and it's been especially popular around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know. I haven't stopped laughing either! Y'all can try being sneaky, but I know that you guys are definitely thinking about doing a juice cleanse. Now, whether you do it or not is up to you, but I know you've pinned it!

small-batch cupcake recipes | The Baking Fairy
    3. Small-Batch Cupcakes: it makes me so happy that these have been so popular! This was an afterthought kind of post to go with my Rustic Pink & Gold Wedding, but everyone loves being able to make just 2 or 3 delicious treats. This post shows you how to make three different kinds of cupcakes, AND small-batch buttercream!

peppermint bark layer cake | The Baking Fairy
    4. Peppermint Bark Layer Cake: this darling wintery cake comes in at #4 for the year, thanks to the fact that it was a campaign post hosted by HEB. This was tons of fun, and I loved creating a whole dessert table to showcase this yummy treat, inspired by the classic peppermint bark.

vegan chocolate bundt cake | The Baking Fairy
    5. Vegan Chocolate Bundt Cake: this cake is so easy, so delicious, and incredibly fudgy, and it has the bonus of being VEGAN! Which means even if you're out of eggs, don't worry. I've got you covered.

homemade Martha Stewart Black Coffee Metallic Glaze | The Baking Fairy
    6. Homemade Martha Stewart Black Coffee Metallic Glaze: I'm so glad I wasn't the only person who was totally devastated about the Martha Stewart furniture line being discontinued, because I got lots of views from people looking to recreate their favorite furniture glaze at home! This is so simple to make, and it creates a gorgeous antiqued effect on any DIY piece. It's my favorite thing ever!

pumpkin white hot chocolate | The Baking Fairy
    7. Pumpkin White Hot Chocolate: in the season of all-things-pumpkin-spice, I couldn't help but share this delicious white hot chocolate made with real pumpkin! It takes a total of 5 minutes, and tastes like drinkable pumpkin pie. Swoon!

baked avocado eggs | The Baking Fairy
    8. Baked Avocado Eggs: these adorable baked eggs are seriously easy, and pack the perfect balance of protein and fats for a strong start to your day! They're also awfully photogenic {thanks, Tastespotting!}. New favorite easy meal!

And now, onto other fun highlights of the year... of course, getting new branding! I'm still not over my adorable cupcake logo with sprinkles and a WAND! Squee! A big, huge, giant, ginormous thanks to McKenzie of Papertie Affair for being seriously amazing! If y'all need some branding done, go to her and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Another fun highlight... lots of food orders! Including these two gorgeous wedding cakes, a super fun baby gender reveal cake {the theme was Cupcake or Stud Muffin... HOW CUTE IS THAT}, a ridiculously obnoxious 13th birthday cake, Superhero cupcakes for a little one's birthday, pie orders for Thanksgiving, and lots of random little jobs! I hope to keep expanding and taking on more customers this next year, so if you're wanting some food, don't hesitate to ask! 🙂

And of course, we can't forget the most essential things of all: getting a new camera, changing blogging platforms, and getting my own domain {FINALLY!}. It seems like ages ago when I was still thebakingfairy.blogspot.com... ahhh, those were the days. But, after nearly four years of blogging {it blows my mind, too... that's a really long time!} I finally  have a little corner of the web to call my own! I am so, so happy to have all you wonderful readers here after all this time, and thank you for following along! Hope to see all your lovely faces again in the new year! <3

Feeling nosey? You can see my 2013 summary here, and my 2012 summary here. I wasn't coordinated enough in 2011 to make a summary, and everything from 2010 was thrown out, so I'm sorry to disappoint 🙂
