This simple Holiday Red Wine Sangria is always a hit! It takes just a few minutes to mix up, but it's much more fun and festive than bringing a bottle of wine to a party.

Hello my dear friends and happy Tuesday! I am continuing on the Thanksgiving train, and today we are talking about BEVERAGES! Aka one of the most important and essential components of any holiday dinner. My husband and I have always done Thanksgiving at his parents' house, and my responsibility for the past few years has been the sangria and the dessert. Since I am working this year on Thanksgiving (wah), I figured I'd just get on it sooner and make my famous Holiday Red Wine Sangria for the blog instead! This drink is so easy to make and it is always a huge hit.

I joke that my red wine sangria has never been made the same way twice anddddd... it's probably true ???? The basic components that I always use are some sort of red wine and some sort of dark berry juice. I've done cranberry, cherry, and even black currant juice, all with delicious results. This year, I found pomegranate juice at Aldi and that became my base! For the wine, I used pinot noir this year but I generally do some sort of red blend. Honestly... anything will work. The sangria is not picky.

Here is my basic tip for you - the wine can be cheap because it's being mixed, but the juice MUST be good! I usually buy the fancy juice in glass bottles (like RW Knudsen)... you want high quality so that your sangria will be delicious. As for garnish, I threw in orange slices, pomegranate arils, cranberries, and a few cinnamon sticks and star anise. If you're also adding spices, I recommend letting the red wine sangria hang out in the fridge for a few hours so the flavors can all meld and infuse the wine.

That is just about everything! I hope you guys will give this holiday red wine sangria a try this holiday season. It is so easy to make and so tasty! If you need something to bring to a potluck, this is always a big hit, and it looks much fancier than just bringing a couple of bottles of wine. I recommend bringing the components with you and assembling on-site for maximum brownie points 🙂 Enjoy!!
